The other day a girl told me on Facebook that I was a loser who wouldn’t amount to anything and that I needed to grow up, stop following my 12 year old dream, and get a real job.
I’m not going to lie it kind of got to me. She actually got under my skin for a while and made me feel a little pathetic. My mind started to play tricks on me and I started wondering how many people secretly thought that I was pathetic. My mom? My family? My friends?
Sometimes I wonder why the hell Joe and I kept the band alive? I mean, both the founding members left, and it seems as if no one believes that we can even do it.
We have put up with suits and ties telling us that our songs are not good enough, that Joe’s voice is generic and boring, that we are not allowed to write about this subject or that subject or that we can’t say fuck or bitch but that damn and hell are okay.
I even remember one particular suit and tie say that the cover songs and videos that we did were embarrassing and we were fucking up.
So trust me when I say that people have been filling our heads with doubt in almost every single direction except one:
YOU!!! The single biggest source of motivation that we have had since we made the new band announcement has been from Ya’ll. You all have been so encouraging and patient with us. Every single FB comment, YouTube comment, or @reply to us about how excited you are for the new Artist Vs Poet has meant the world to us. It has honestly, been the fuel to all things new in our world.
We still have lots of struggles ahead of us but Joe, Dylan, and I are in this for the long run and we are going to be doing things honestly. When we believe something is right we are not letting anything or anyone get in our way. In the most humble way possible we are proud of you and of ourselves. We won’t let anyone make us feel differently. If we have to cut ties in order to ensure that Artist Vs Poet remains true to Artist Vs Poet we will do that.
We will be releasing a new song this October and a new EP soon after

Don’t you dare give in to anyone who makes you feel like this! I absolutely adore you all. You are so incredible and phenominal. Your music is perfect, and each of you bring SO MUCH to the table! You are tremendous, and I will be so hurt if you ever stop. Also, Joe’s voice is NOT generic. I don’t do generic vocals. PERIOD. OH! & the covers?! Clearly this guy has no idea what he is saying, because they are WONDERFUL covers. My particular favorites are Super Bass & Mean….and I REALLY don’t like Taylor Swift.
